Under Ground

I am completely buried. I defend my dissertation (...I think I just threw up a little) on May 6. This means that my dissertation is due to my executioners, ahem, examiners, on April 22. That gives me about 6 weeks to write a 200 page document that technically, is supposed to make sense and make me sound all smart and PhD-like. I don't know how this is going to happen.

I just want to play, eat, and post on the blog! Alas, that is going to slow down for the next month. Suck. Wish me luck. Also wish for someone (you know who you are) to keep me from eating myself sick with Cheetos and other crappy studying food.

I wish you the best of luck with your dissertation. If you have time, you can check out this comic for some words of wisdom.

Ouch. Six weeks is short indeed. Best of luck! I'm not helping, am I?

Naveen - I do love that comic strip. It makes me feel like maybe I am not all that insane for feeling completely frazzled and irritated half the time. Grad school does funny things to people. Thank you for the good luck wishes!

Setar - No. Not helping at all! I think I am ok. I have just submitted the largest chapter of the lot for review to my advisor. I really don't want to know what she says about it. Eek. Thank you for the good luck. I definitely need it. Definitely.

Go for it, Tiger. I wrote mine in about 4 weeks, while my supervisor was in Canada and just after my dad had a near-fatal motorcycle crash.

You've got it easy ;)

Anna, my dissertation is due on April 30th!!! So we are in the same boat, only your boat is much tougher and impressive seeing as it is a Phd and mine is a lowly Masters degree. But to quote a movie that defined a generation, Wayne's World, "If you are going to spew, spew into this."

Oh come on now, six weeks is plenty of time! You put your mind to it and you can do so much in that time. That's like, *calculates* 180 days! You could go around the world twice over in that time and still have time left for, like, other stuff! Don't sweat it, you'll get there. Pressure is good. Pressure gets results. And none of this 'luck' nonsense - it's in your hands. I have no doubt that your hands are more than capable. DO IT! YES!

Ps. Do you know 'The Duke Spirit'? Can I reccommend you track down their album, 'Neptune' to help you along. It's ace.

you're brilliant and you're gonna rock it, and then you can tell science to 'SUCK IT'. i'll teach you the gesture too.

and i'll help your supervisor keep you off the cheetos. just tell me what i can cook for you once i get over the plague!

You people rock. I wish I were secure enough in my scientific prowess not to need all this external encouragement, but I do. In fact, I am currently accepting applications for full time cheerleader positions. I will pay you in all the Cheetos you can eat :)

And I so want to go to Croatia, you have no idea. It's a sailor's paradise out there! And all that fresh seafood.... [Drooling]

If I accept the full-time cheerleader position, would you mail the Cheetos over to Singapore? There's good seafood here, too.
