Had to Share
I don't have time to write a full post (NNB reviews due in 36 hours and I still have one more restaurant to visit. Eeek) but I couldn't wait to show off a photo of a vanilla-blueberry crumb cake from Gale Gand's Chocolate and Vanilla cookbook. I am finally starting to conquer my giant and ridiculously complicated camera. I don't know which of the two I am happier with - the cake or the picture.

that looks freaking good! i can see why you can't make a decision on the photo or the cake. congrats on getting to live the dream too! how great, getting to make money from food eating... er, writing!
Hot damn, that looks amazing. Glad you and your camera are getting better acquainted. Need Wusthof be getting worried I wonder?
Very nice photo, and the cake looks so very delicious.
I tried to make green chile stew tonight, but due to a screwup on my part it turned out more like green chile soup.
Amanda - Thank you! I am not quite at my dream yet, but I am headed that way, I hope.
Aimee - Wusthof should most definitely be worried. The risk of serious injury with my camera is far less... unless I drop it on my toe, which would suck.
JC - Oooh I have done that too. Did you put flour on the stuff before adding liquid? That's what I forgot to do last time I made chile stew. Oh man that sounds so good right now! Wish I were in NM.
The cake gets my vote, but I was bribed. (Feel free to lose my phone number before a reviewing trip anytime. ;))
Mmmm...oh please, NEVER hesitate to share such a delicious photograph - with or without an explanation.
No, I didn't add any flour since the recipe didn't call for it. I added some corn starch later but it didn't really help. The recipe said 3 cups of chicken broth or water. I got mixed up and added a can of chicken broth plus two cans of water. 3 cans instead of 3 cups! Oh well, it still tastes good.
GA - I am afraid you can be sure of me messing up something in the near future. I promise to continue buying your friendship with baked goods :)
Hillary - Thank you! I have all these pictures I would like to post but feel silly doing so without a back story. Maybe it's time for another photoessay...
JC - oh ick. Is a can very much bigger than a cup? 8oz can? Sorry. It was still good though and that's all that matters.
