Herbanites

WooHoo! Another issue of the Fletcher Ledger is up, with an article from yours truly. I was hoping to have the above sad image of desolation included in the article, but alas, that was not to be. It will make sense in context, I promise. The death and disease in the shot above is to this very day parked on my windowsill. Why I haven't yet tossed it, I can't say. I may still be in mourning.

Shame about the picture. It's pretty in a sad and pathetic sort of way.

I'm trying my damn hardest not to kill my very own basil plant right now (not right now, I'm at work, I don't carry it around with me!)

I always buy basil in a little pot, thinking it will last forever- but it dies before the week is out. This time, I'm really trying. I'm determined. It's actually flourishing today. Tomorrow could be an entirely different story.

Basil is one of the few things I can grow without too many problems in my back yard. Tomatoes? That's another story!

And I freaked when I read the part about roadrunners! I took a picture of one in Arizona and I was going to post it on my blog! I'll post it just for you.

Aimee - When you figure out how to make it flourish, let me know. I am not bad with normal houseplants, but I seem to bring death and desolation to all herbs. I don't know why. Maybe I start eating them too soon because I am impatient...

JC - See!! That's what everyone says. Basil grows like weeds, blah blah. Well, not for me. I can't do it. Very cool about the road-runner! Thank you. Can't believe you got to see a real live road-runner. I want one. Can they be pets?

Hillary - I am afraid you give me too much credit. The editor of the Ledger came up with Herbanite. The original title was Urbanite, and it totally didn't occur to me that it was punny.
